Trivial

Most of you know how much I love little factoids, and telling people little interesting notes about things. Here's some of that info I found out about everyday things we take for granted. Talk this up at your next cocktail party. It'll make you belle of the ball.

Xerox-
Xerxes, the warrior king of the late Persian Empire was known to be nearly impossible to track down, because he frequently kept “identical” twins with him at all times. The Xerox company chose the Latin version of his name to adorn their most profitable invention, the Copying Machine.

Jacuzzi-
This word comes from the French. French immigrants on the island of Bali quickly bought into the Pacific Island traditional use of hot sulfur baths to relax. The French did not follow the local custom of the separation of sexes while in these hot baths, and often engaged in sexual trysts. When an opposing partner smelled the sulfur on their partner’s skin, but hadn’t been aware of a planned trip to the baths, they often shouted out “J’accuse!” (I accuse you!).

When the French created the use of man made hot baths to the European mainland, the name stuck.
