Is there any interest in Gossip?

So far this week in Portland ultimate:
-Is Spring league even closer to being cancelled?
-3 teams broke up, and 2 other teams contemplated a name change.
-One of the longer running teams in town pulled a Logan’s Run and ditched everyone over 30.
-I re-upped as sectionals coordinator.
-That old fashioned on the stove was tasty. I decided I needed a lot of whisky last night, not just a little. The ravioli was just okay.
-Will Horshaq even participate in the UPA tourney? Or will they save it for Worlds?

What does this mean to everyone?
-It’s now a mad scramble to get the best players in this time of limbo.
-There are at least 4 teams that are going to be aiming to be the new #2 in Portland.
-Logjam could be pretty interesting this year as the first chance to all throw down.
-Will anyone even be willing to scrimmage another team?
-Since Oregon should have a larger field of competitors at sectionals, instead of doing what I think is best for our state, I will just prepare brackets for every eventuality. This year I will disqualify teams on the spot if they have inaccurate rosters. Cannonball could have an easy run.
-Will there be less growth among new players if there is no spring league or entry level club teams?
-Adam could care less, because he’s in Cincinnati and thinks Frisbees are dumb.

Frisbees are not dumb in themselves. In fact, the frisbee is kinda cool. Turning it into a "sport" is getting on the dumb end of the teeter-totter. On the other hand, if it gets fat ass Americans away from the evil box, then how can I argue with that. Sure I can...at UC, the only peeps I ever saw playing ultimate was a combination of Chinese and Indian engineering students. It was a rapidly developing nation throwdown. The coolest frisbee crap is the freestyle guys that keep it spinning while performing rhythmic gynastics or the dude in the park with a bunch of frisbees and a collie with a bandana.

as a former Indian engineering student I must agree, there was at least one of us playing ultimate at Columbia.

I think there's a mad dash to recruit the stereotypical "best players" right now.

I think there are better strategies to form a solid #2/potential #1 team for portland coed.

unfortunately I don't care enough to do anything about it.
and I'm short, but I wear it well.

and no one's courting me to play for coltrane, that made me a little upset.

I'll play on Coltrane if you do

Seriously, if Kyle had only made out with me at his party, I would totally have been a shoe in for Coltrane.

I will address this all at once.

1-I want a dog that will jump off my face to catch discs. It will be a whippet. Quick addendum: I forgot the other worst thing I ever did. I taught my dog how to catch frisbees in high school and ended up breaking all her canine teeth off. She never cried or whimpered, so I didn't know I did it until later.

2-You didn't make out with me for two reasons. Mindy and Randell. There might be a third reason like, you weren't that drunk.

3-Tryouts are open, you'd still have to make the cut.

Jeez, it's about time we had some frisbee talk 'round here.

Seems to me Spring League is unlikely. IF it happens, I will be on a team that makes semis again, but NO FURTHER! The top draft pick on my team will show up for 3 games, and Lars will be in the finals again. Also, 75% chance Pat will be on my team because the same type of person who would draft a guy like me would also draft a person like him. Even though we are oil & water.

Which teams broke up? Which team cut the old people...was it Swizzle?

Either I'm not worthy of the mad scramble or everyone knows I have a Seattle love affair already. Seattle likes me in a way Portland never will.

Log Jam is always good drama.

Entry level teams: I can think of at least 4. Are they all going away?

The thought that Spring League really might not happen brings a big fat tear to my eye. Spring League '02 was my intro to ultimate, to spirit of the game, to a forehand and to so many people who are now wonderful friends.

In what other league format would a clueless beginner like myself have benefitted every single week from the experience and patience of players like Merm, Lars, L-boogie, DK and Mary T.????

I had no idea what club ultimate entailed but I'd had such a great first experience with the Tighty-Whities (White Russians, White Trash, Pasty Whites, White Collars, etc.) that when someone asked if I wanted to go play a Halloween Tourney in Victoria B.C., I said, "Hell yes!" Been luvin' it ever since.

Fingers are still crossed for Spring League '06, wish I could think of a solution...

I would like to know who the "sterotypical" best co-ed players are and how that is defined. T-Unit is what I would define as the "sterotypical" best player and Luke, of course. Aside from the Whor$hack players, some of the "old" Sidekicks and Luke on One Miss., there are so many men in town who are on an even plane with each other. It's more of a click and who likes who.

Just for the record Dan, I love playing with you, and you bring out the best in me. I like Pat, but you are different from him. He yells at me, and I play like shit when I'm on the field with him. Maybe I'm just a wussy and need to suck it up, but I'm a damn good skiier!

Coltrane is going to rock this year!

My mind is all cluttered with dirty and perverted thoughts from being around Bro-Man all weekend long.

L-Boogie, I'm sure that he would make out with you even if you didn't want to play on Coltrane.

I'm a changed man, T-Unit!

I got it! Kyle's birthday is coming up in the next month, and that is your chnace to make out with him, L-Boogie...... Peter, too.

Oh, Jacey has a couple of art shows coming up.

As PT (Patrick Taylor) would say, "I gotta bounce!"

P.S. A midget team would be awesome!

Danimal, you've got to put together another 9s team this year. Just recruit 8 people & then I'll sneak on at the end, just like last year! Sweet!

I take everything back. I'm sober now.

But I am surprised that there are no new rumors flying around on this blog. I mean, after all, I'm concerned about who's going to be #4 this year. Will Dan Anderson make a comeback onto a Portland Co-ed team?
