Canada Question

I don't really have that much to say, except I'm tired of looking at the devil's posting from six, six, oh, oh, oh six!!!

So can anyone answer why the lights flash green all the time in Vancouver BC? It's kind of confusing -- I can't tell whether that means the yellow is coming soon or what?

I love all you can eat sushi and korean bbq..........thanks for the tip A-train.

the blinking greens was a continuous conversation in our car as well... that and I don't have a clue what the speed limit was, ever. The issue was not kph vs. mph, it was the other drivers - I was either crawling at a snails pace to get somewhere, boxed in between other snails (but not stuck in traffic) or it was the indy 500, but never a happy medium. At any rate, I'll take the indy 500 any day, especially with the occasional 'subtle merge' (unannounced lane loss)

Canadians speed, I think. When the speed limit is 75kph everyone's going 100kph, which is cool if you know you can get away with it but a little unnerving for a foreigner. I don't want to know how much a Canadian ticket is, but if it's anything like beer pricing...OUCH.

I don't remember blinking green, but I remember last time I was there they had the blinking yellow, which is the same as a solid yellow for us (red is coming soon). The problem is that blinking yellow around here means it's going to stay blinking yellow. So in Canada you're driving along just fine, 'oh look, blinking yellow, it's all cool', then it suddenly changes to RED.

I had to unexpectedly slam on the brakes more than once.

England was like that. It seems like those wimpy countries do everything only as a suggestion.

"We'd like you to go through this intersection now but only if you want to"
"We'd like you to go around this speed now but only if you want to"
"We'd like you to not carry guns everywhere now but only if you want to"

Communists.

The blinking green means that it's a pedestrian controlled intersection. So it will always blink green until somebody hits the crosswalk button (after which it will eventually turn yellow than red like a normal signal). In this way it's slightly different than a regular cycling light that will turn red even when nobody is around.

I can't say that I ever saw a blinking yellow when I was living in Canada.

On my trip to London, I seem to remember that the signals worked backwards. They would go from green straight to red. They would go to yellow to warn you that the green was going to come on.
