"Before the Internet, it was almost impossible to track down someone with just their phone number or email address."

Before the Internet, nobody HAD an email address.

Booya.

There could be a qualification on this...but I don't know for sure. What is the internet? The internet began as a government system that linked major government offices. So, before the popular public internet initiated there could have been email addresses. Still damn funny, though. Just wanted to throw a penny in the well.

Pine Is Not Elm.

There were email addresses around the time that BBS were the pre internet for public use. I am fairly certain the email address entered marginaly widespread use slightly before the web.

Oh yeah, I remember getting on the BBS thing at 300 baud when I was in high school. Sweet.

When I started playing Ultimate in Portland in 2000, the main listing for pickup games was on the PUFF Hotline. You could call the hotline & find out what games were going on. I can't imagine how teams communicated back then.

Back in college before email was prevalent, when we'd hold a tournament at our school, you'd have to exchange phone numbers with other teams, hope somebody you went to high school with and now went to Bowling Green could find the ultimate team for you and have them give you a ring. It was anarchy, and the reason why we would have 3/4/ or 5 team tourneys.

But we would also have a keg on th esidelines in a garbage can, so that usually made teams want to come back.

It's hard to believe how far things have come in 13 years.

Maybe the fact that you can use this tool to track down, oh I don't know, "ex-military buddies" discreetly?

That and the fact that the only other way to find someone is to hire a private investigator and wait for weeks. Ahhh, those were the good ole' days.
