The Craft


A good writer takes notes.
Constantly observing the world around him* and compiling all those little things into knowledge. A good writer takes a little bit of trivia and weaves it into his story, deftly adding richness to the tale, without coming across as cloying. The little things that create a new world in your mind, and
A good writer, like Charles Bukowski, lets a little thing slip, he slips it right in there into your frontal lobe so quick and slippery that you don’t even notice. It’s the little things that bring you in, and Bukowski would give you the little things in spades. Things like how hard it is to lay a turd while you’re hooped up on goofballs, or what kind of bloomers those whores from the docks used to wear in the 40s.

A Bad Writer reads a news story about some guy having a stroke while laying a turd and then turns it into an entire episode of CSI: MIAMI.

*women aren’t good writers**. They write trite murder mysteries, children’s books about magical dragons, softcore porn starring rugged manual labourers, and
